ABOUT GIRO

When Giro Pizzeria first opened its doors in April 2015, the restaurant was the result of a genuine collaboration based on shared values between the Nobis Hospitality Group and one of the world’s oldest pizzerias, Da Michele. Michele Condurro opened his first pizzeria in 1906. In 1930, the restaurant moved to the location that still houses Da Michele today. For five generations, the Condurro family has been making pizza the way Michele advocated, offering only two types of pizza: Marinara and Margherita.

At Giro Pizzeria, we developed a concept that drew equally from Da Michele and Nobis, creating pizzas that follow the tradition of a special dough-rising technique, oven construction, and oven management, in collaboration with bakers from Da Michele. Today, we have our own bakers, but we still bake pizzas in the traditional Neapolitan style that we learned from Da Michele. The classic pizzas remain on the menu alongside our own creations, striking a fine balance between tradition and innovation.

Giro has a clear vision: to create authentic Neapolitan pizza of the highest quality. We want to highlight the cultural heritage on which pizza is based. Combining tradition with modernity and inspiration, we have developed our own unique concept. We achieve this with a team of Neapolitan pizzaiolos, carefully selected ingredients imported from Italy, and a curated beverage selection.

A SHORT STORY

Pizza is a dish that has survived since the Middle Ages, but back then it was described merely as an edible plate. The pizza as we know it today began to take shape in the late 1800s. After a tour of her kingdom, Queen Margherita of Italy had fallen in love with the flatbread and had the luxury of hiring a private pizza baker at the palace. The pizza baker’s name was Raffaele Esposito; the creator of the classic Margherita, baked in the queen’s honor. Green basil, white mozzarella, and red tomatoes. Art on a plate.
